Aortic sclerosis
This is senile degeneration of the aortic valve and is not associated with left ventricular outflow tract obstruction.
Clinical presentation:
- asymptomatic
- on examination: pulse normal; ejection systolic murmur (no ejection click or abnormal second heart sound) (1)
- there is no slow-rising pulse (plateau pulse) that is found in patients with aortic stenosis (1)
