In aortic stenosis which is the result of rheumatic fever there is often a mitral stenosis as well as an aortic stenosis. However if there is left ventricular hypertrophy then the filling of the left ventricle may be reduced so there is insufficient velocity of flow to produce a diastolic murmur or opening snap.
