The left atrium has the following relations:
- anterior and to the right: right atrium
- anteriorly, to the left and superiorly, from deep to superficial:
- transverse sinus
- aortic valve
- pulmonary valve
- anteriorly and inferiorly:
- atrioventricular orifice and mitral valve
- left ventricle
- posteriorly:
- base of heart with pulmonary veins entering laterally
- anterior wall of oblique sinus
- superiorly:
- left atrial auricle
- right and left pulmonary arteries
