Side-effects
The side-effects of nitroprusside infusion are caused by:
- excessively rapid reduction in blood pressure:
- headache
- dizzines
- nausea and vomiting
- abdominal pain
- palpitation
- cyanide toxicity:
- the cyanide metabolite may accumulate at high rates of nitroprusside infusion
- tachycardia
- sweating
- hyperventilation
- arrhythmias
- metabolic acidosis
