Investigations
The appropriate investigations in spinal claudication include:
- exercise - brings on symptoms; look for loss of ankle jerks - cauda equina - or extensor plantars - spinal cord
- radiography - look for bony stenosis of the lumbar canal or central lumbar disc prolapse
- myelography - there is narrowing of the radio-opaque column at the level of the stenosis
