Type 2B (familial) hyperlipidaemia
Type 2B hyperlipidaemia - also known as familial combined hyperlipidaemia - is a mixed hyperlipidaemia: (1)
- raised plasma cholesterol (raised LDL)
- raised triglyceride (raised VLDL)
- there may be isolated increases in apolipoprotein B (apoB)
- has a multigenic mode and complex inheritance (2)
- there is an increased risk of ischaemic heart disease
