Long term complications
These include:
- sterility
- induction of premature ovarian failure
- increased susceptibility to cancers of lymphoid tissue and the bladder
- haemorrhagic cystitis
- pneumonitis and fibrosis - responds well to corticosteroid therapy
- bone marrow suppression
- alopecia
- amenorrhoea
- should be avoided during pregnancy
