Management
In general, patients should be advised about lifestyle changes which may help the condition. Initial advice include
- identifying any trigger factors and avoiding them e.g. - spicy foods or alcohol, stressful situations, and identifiable emotional triggers
- using antiperspirant spray rather than deodorant
- wearing loose-fitting clothes made of natural fibres, and using dress shields to absorb sweat.
- wear leather shoes only
- minimise obvious signs of sweating by wearing black or white clothing
- use emollient washers and moisturizers rather than soap-based cleansers
- introduce to a patient support group – www.hyperhidrosisuk.org (1).
Management varies with respect to generalized and localised hyperhidrosis.
