Madelung's Deformity tends to occur in females more than males. Both forearms tend to be affected. Frequently, it is sporadic in nature but there are inheritable forms:

  • familial, autosomal dominant with variable penetrance
  • associated with syndromes:
    • Leri-Weill Syndrome
    • Turner's Syndrome
    • achondroplasia
    • nail-patella syndrome
