Subfascial ligation
This operation is indicated when operating on varicose veins to improve the healing of venous ulcers.
The procedure involves incising the skin and deep fascia and ligating the incompetent perforators beneath the deep fascia.
In this way damaged, ulcerated skin is subjected to minimal dissection and no longer exposed to the high venous pressures transmitted from the deep system.
