Severe persistent hypoglycaemia
Under these circumstances further investigation is probably indicated, including:
- blood and urine for organic acid and amino acid screen for suspicion of inborn errors of metabolism
- if there is suspicion of dysmorphology then chromosomes may be checked
The blood glucose may be maintained in the meantime with a glucagon infusion.
