Investigations in precocious puberty

The investigation is aimed at deciding whether it is true or pseudo precocious puberty. This part will be heavily based on the clinical examination, which should reveal any asynchrony between the facets of pubertal developments. In addition the following investigations may be of use:

  • sex hormones
  • pituitary hormones
  • bone age
  • LHRH stimulation test
  • CT for visualisation of the pituitary stalk
  • MRI for visualisation of the pituitary
