Aluminium is the element at position 13 in the periodic table, with symbol Al. It is found as a trace mineral within the body.
Aluminium poisoning has been linked with dementia, particularly in renal dialysis patients.
Aluminium hydroxide is used:
- as an osmotic laxative
- as an antacid
- to treat hyperphosphataemia
