Clinical features
Meconium ileus presents within the first few hours of life with absolute constipation, bile-stained vomiting and abdominal distension, which may also be severe enough to cause respiratory distress. Those that develop meconium peritonitis will additionally present with abdominal tenderness, fever, and shock.
