Doctor 2
Doctor 2 is primarily concerned with the circulation. His / her functions include:
- securing two large gauge intravenous lines
- assessing shock
- commencing fluid resuscitation
- obtaining blood for cross-matching
- controlling external haemorrhage
- ensuring cardiac monitor is in place
- obtaining blood gases
- setting up blood warming apparatus
Doctor 3 carries greater responsibility for life-threatening bleeding.
