Anterior mediastinal lymph nodes (anteroinferior)
The anterior group of the anterior inferior mediastinal lymph nodes are a group of 2-3 nodes on each side sited at the anteromedial surface of the diaphragm near to the sternocostal hiatus.
They receive afferent lymphatics from the:
- anterior region of the diaphragm
- adjoining pleura
- upper abdominal viscera
They send efferent lymphatic vessels superiorly to merge with the sternal lymphatic chains.
