Vascular supply
Arterial supply:
- parietal pleura: from the supply to the thoracic body wall e.g.:
- intercostal arteries
- internal thoracic arteries
- musculophrenic arteries
- visceral pleura: from the bronchial arterial supply to the underlying lung
Venous supply:
- parietal pleura: drain to veins within thoracic body wall e.g.:
- venae comitantes of internal thoracic vein
- posterior intercostal veins of azygous system
- visceral pleura: drain into pulmonary veins of deeper lung parenchyma
