Changing behaviour
The following are necessary for change to occur:
- Dissatisfaction with the present pattern of behaviour must be great enough to motivate change
- An alternative pattern of behaviour must be possible and acceptable
- Emotional commitment to the new pattern over the old ways must exist
- Practice and feedback of the new behaviour establish the new pattern as an available option
- Habituation and support of the new behaviour must continue in the normal home and work situation
