Difficult and dangerous situations
Difficult and dangerous situations include dealing with:
- disturbed patients
- violent patients
- patients with transmissible infections, particularly HIV and hepatitis B
- accident sites such as road traffic accidents
Precautions:
- make sure someone knows where you are and when you should be back
- keep out of danger at accident sites
- assume patient is HIV and HBV positive - use gloves
- keep your HBV vaccination up to date
- ensure adequate help and medication are immediately available
