  • organic causes of obesity
  • psychiatric illness or a history of major eating disorders
  • concomitant use of centrally-acting drugs (including tryptophan and MAOIs)
  • coronary, peripheral or cerebral vascular disease
  • arrhythmias
  • inadequately-controlled blood pressure (>145/90 mmHg)
