Histology
The histology of the African and non-African Burkitt's lymphoma is identical.
The typical appearance is of a "starry sky":
- the sky is a mass of rapidly dividing, monotonous small cells with a high nuclear to cytoplasmic ratio
- the stars are macrophages which are removing apoptotic lymphoma cells
