The following statements are characterstic of lymphadenopathy in Hodgkin's disease:

  • two thirds of patients present with cervical lymphadenopathy
  • lymph nodes may or may not be tender
  • alcohol related pain is rare but recognized
  • 20% of patients present with axillary or inguinal lymphadenopathy
  • there may be generalised lymphadenopathy
