GUSTO II is investigated the role of hirudin, a specific inhibitor of thrombin, in the treatment of myocardial infarction.
GUSTO III compared tPA with a recombinant tPA-like molecule (reteplase). The two treatments were equally effective, however reteplase may be given as a bolus.
