Fresh frozen plasma in major burns
Fresh frozen plasma can be used to treat burns in children. It has the advantages of:
- contains all of osmotic load of plasma
- contains clotting factors
- provides passive immunity
However, it is not widely used as:
- it is relatively expensive
- there is a risk of viral transmission
