Clonic phase of an epileptic seizure
In a classic epileptic seizure, immediately following the tonic phase there is a clonic phase, during which there is clonic jerking of the muscles. Incontinence of urine, dribbling from the mouth and tongue-biting are characteristic.
This usually lasts 1 to 5 minutes.
The movements are initially rapid and then become slower.
