Features of severe PCP
- dyspnoea at rest; tachypnoea
- non-productive cough
- fever
- blood gases:
- PaO2 <8.0kPa
- chest X-ray:
- diffuse interstitial shadowing; may be alveolar shadowing causing a "white out" of the lung fields (apices and costophrenic angles spared)
