Intervention studies

Authoring team

There are few intervention studies into the consequences of H. pylori eradication on the incidence of gastric carcinoma.

A Japanese study of 132 H. pylori positive patients undergoing endoscopic resection of early gastric cancer compared the rates of recurrent gastric cancer in patients with or without H. pylori eradication:

  • 9% without eradication had recurrent cancer
  • 0% with eradication had recurrent cancer (p=0.01)
