Vidarabine
Indications:
- Varicella-zoster infections in immunocompromised patients
- Herpes simplex infections of the eye
Cautions:
- reduce dose in renal impairment
- FBC required
- pregnancy
Side-effects:
- anorexia
- tremor, ataxia and dizziness
- decreased haematocrit, WCC and platelet count
- nausea and vomiting
- confusion
- diarrhoea
Routes of administration:
- Slow i.v. infusion
