Investigation
Suspicion of an infected hand may warrant:
- radiography: most glass is radio-opaque, wood is not
- blood cultures: if signs of systemic infection
- dipstix urine: diabetic screen
- culture of curettings, expressed fluid or pus: may require special culture techniques according to clinical suspicion
