Haemorrhage from AVM's carries a lower mortality than aneurysmal rupture; the latter has a 10% risk.
Small, unruptured AVM's have a 15% chance of bleeding over 5 years; the risk is greater for small AVMS - 50% - if less than 3 cm in size. Only ruptured AVM's have an increased risk of bleeding.
