Chronic external ophthalmoplegia
CEO is a sporadic disorder caused by insertion or deletion mutations in the mitochondrial DNA.
It is characterised by:
- ophthalmoplegia
- ptosis
- muscle weakness
CEO is a mild form of the Kearns-Sayre syndrome.
