Prokinetic drugs
The prokinetic drugs include:
- metoclopramide
- domperidone
- cisapride - withdrawn in the UK on 28/7/00
Prokinetic drugs are probably more effective than proton pump inhibitors in reducing dyspeptic symptoms:
- 45% more patients experience an improvement in symptoms when taking prokinetic drugs as compared to placebo
