Upper neurone signs in the arms suggest that a compressive cord lesion is above C5.
C5-6 lesions show:
- lower motor neurone signs in rhomboids, deltoids, biceps, brachioradialis
- upper motor neurone signs in the the rest of the upper limbs and in all of the lower limbs
- loss of biceps and supinator reflexes
C8-T1 lesion show:
- lower motor neurone signs in the intrinsic muscles of the hands
- upper motor neurone signs in the lower limbs
- occasionally, a Horner's syndrome
