Brush border enzyme defects
Isolated defects in brush border enzymes and transport proteins cause specific malabsorption, for example:
- lactose intolerance
- sucrase-isomaltase deficiency
- glucose-galactose malabsorption
- Hartnup disease } also produce amino-aciduria as renal
- cystinuria } tubule cells share same transport } mechanisms
