Essential fructosaemia is an inherited deficiency of fructokinase.

The individual is unable to metabolize fructose.

Diagnosis is made on the increased concentration of fructose in plasma

  • is a harmless, asymptomatic disorder characterized by intermittent appearance of fructose in the urine (1)
