False positives
There can be an abnormally high sweat sodium and chloride in:
- adrenal insufficiency
- ectodermal dysplasia
- hypothyroidism
- hypopituitarism
- nephrogenic diabetes insipidus
- storage disorders such as mucopolysaccharidosis, glycogen storage disease type I and fucosidosis
- severe malnutrition
- HIV infection
