Sulfinpyrazone
Sulfinpyrazone is:
- a uricosuric drug which increases the urinary excretion of uric acid
- primarily used in the prophylaxis of acute gout
During treatment with sulfinpyrazone the patient should ensure adequate fluid intake; in cases of severe hyperuricaemia the urine may be rendered alkaline in order to prevent urolithiasis.
