Finger jerks
There are various techniques that have been described for the elicitation of finger jerk reflexes. One commonly used involves:
- patient rests his palm facing upwards with the fingers slightly flexed
- examiner interlocks his hands over the patient's upturned fingers
- the examiner lets the tendon hammer fall and strike his own fingers
- an intact reflex will produce slight flexion of the patient's upturned fingers
