Hand regard

Hand regard is seen in babies between 12 and 20 weeks of age. It occurs when a baby is seen lying supine, watching the movement of the hands. In a child with developmental delay this may be seen at an age much older than 20 weeks.

Note that apparent hand regard may occur in the blind child; this is a second reason for its persistence after 20 weeks old.
