Risk factors for gastrointestinal side-effects of NSAIDs
Gastric irritation or peptic ulceration is more likely to occur with:
- NSAID's or steroids
- previous history of peptic ulcer
- elderly or debilitated patients
- Helicobacter pylori infection
- smoking or (excessive) alcohol
- especially combinations of these risk factors
