In this form of therapy the main focus of interest is on the inter-relationships within the group, rather than on the highly personal relationships as in individual therapy.
The group situation allows problems to be shared, and patients are able to see their own difficulties in interpersonal relationships reflected in the group, and so in a different light. Also they are subject to criticism, encouragement and support from other members of the group.
