Example of hospital drug treatment
An example protocol is listed below: (1)
- vitamin B coforte 2 tablets tds
- thiamine 100 mg od
- vitamin C 500 mg od
- chlormethiazole 3 capsules qds + chlormethiazole 2-3 capsules PRN
If the chlormethiazole is not sufficient to control features of withdrawal then consider addition of diazepam e.g. test dose of diazepam 5 mg - if this is useful then regular diazepam (diazepam 5 mg t.d.s.) can be added.
