Authoring team

Supportive group psychotherapy is useful in the management of chronically vulnerable patients; it seeks to provide support for vulnerable individuals who may be socially isolated or exhaust (reject unintentionally) the help of those around him.

This form of psychotherapy is a common feature of the treatment programme in day hospitals and day centres.

The group environment offers additional advantage in that the patients may support each other to some extent, and their mutual support can continue between meetings of the group.
