Differential diagnosis
The principal differential diagnosis of ARF is dehydration which is suggested by:
- normal sized kidneys
- urine sodium concentration < 20 mM
- urine osmolality / plasma osmolality > 1.5
Dehydration is corrected by the administration of oral or intravenous fluids.
