Acute hepatitis
Acute hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver which has a duration of less than six months.
The most common causes of acute hepatitis are alcohol abuse and hepatotropic viral infection.
Clinically the patient experiences a prodrome of general malaise and anorexia. Jaundice may follow.
There is a typical hepatitic biochemical profile.
