Aetiology
Flatulence can be caused by:
- swallowing a lot of air with food due to a problem with mastication due to:
- poorly fitting false teeth
- anxiety
- fizzy drinks
- refluxing excessive gas due to:
- incompetent lower oesophageal sphincter
- excessive gas, e.g. bicarbonate ingestion
