This is the secretion of sebaceous glands, especially the cheesey secretion. It consists mainly of desquamated epithelial cells found chiefly beneath the prepuce (1).
Particularly seen in children since they do not have a fully retractable foreskin developed (1)
Retention of smegma beneath the foreskin may precipitate penile carcinoma.
