Electromechanical dissociation
Electromechanical dissociation is the phenomenon where the electrical activity of the heart does not correlate with a pulse. For example, during resuscitation there may be apparent sinus rhythm on the rhythm strip of the ECG, but no output - ie no pulse.
It is important to consider the potential causes of EMD and to eliminate them.
