Types of skull injury and their management in head injury
A depressed skull fracture results when the inner table is depressed by at least the thickness of the skull. They result from injury inflicted by a sharp object.
Consciousness is usually preserved as diffuse "deceleration" damage is minimal. Two types are recognised:
- simple, or closed
- compound, or open
