Bulbospongiosus muscle (male, anatomy)
Bulbospongiosus in the male arises from the:
- perineal body posteriorly
- midline raphe over corpus spongiosum
- inferior fascia of urogenital diaphragm laterally
It inserts into the dorsum and lateral borders of the penile bulb.
Bulbospongiosus acts to:
- empty the urethra of urine or ejaculate
- facilitate penile erection
